Start the Year with an Apple
Here we go again: the Apple Look for WordPress on the XO 2011 Theme. Let’s compare and just enjoy:

The look is fine, the difference results mainly from the content. Apple is on a slim trip while we like it bold these days. Our demo site has just picked up the elements of the Apple web design and stuffed in some dummy content, profiting from the built in features of the Semiomantics XO 2011 Theme.
To get it even closer to apple, you could take out the icons from the menu bar and add text to the inserted thumbs in the main banner. The News bar could be restyled to light background and dark text and the news could slide in one by one. That’s just a matter of settings of the component.
The biggest difference is in fact a technical one: we use flash while Apple is Flash free!
HTML5 and CSS3 in 2011
In 2011 we will introduce HTML5 and CSS3 at Ycademy to replace Flash. This will concern components we use on WordPress as well as Evolution and Evo2. The reason is that Flash is just not designed for mobile devices and I recommend to have a look a Steve Job’s article about his battle with Adobe.
Also we have the first orders for commercial iPhone Applications in, which will give us the opportunity to develop educational content in respect to mobile applications during the year to come.
