To give some ideas for fancy fonts headers I have prepared some files you may download and use as the case may be. They consist of a 1024 x 200 pixels Photoshop file (which can be edited in GIMP as well). Please download and install the fonts before editing.

Unzip and place the .ttf files in Windows/Fonts on your main hard drive (C usually).

Social Media require a good input of time. Be it Blogs, Social Networks or any other Web 2.0 platform where personal involvement is required, the time factor plays an important role as in any human relation based context.

Marketing involving social media requires therefore a good dose of planning and a solid concept.

Social Media allow targeting based on internal search tools. Searching means: you have to know to know your targeted keywords, login, search and then invite people to join your list. It’s an active push approach.

This approach takes too much time, namely when you are involved in multiple networks.

The second approach would be: be open to anyone who wants to join your list and make yourself available under the search terms corresponding to your goals.

This is a passive, pull approach.

When targeting actively, we do the screening when typing our keywords and phrases into the search tool; when targeting passively we are available for all those who are searching for the keywords linked to our profile. In this latter case the screening is done without our personal active  involvement and we don’t need to have a case by case approach.

Automated screening, where our profile attracts interested people via the internal search engine is my preferred method as it does not require any additional tasks to be added to my daily work load once I have set up my account on a social networks.

Once we are available via the search engine, we then have to offer to interested people what they are looking for. To make the pipeline efficient, we need to make sure that we offer the shortest possible link to what people are searching for, and that’s a link to our web site, blog, online publication outside of the social network.

Our website allows readers to comment and subsequently we can follow up on those comments as the case may be. Or we offer an opt-in to our newsletter which allows yet another way to follow up or we just offer a contact form and or a call me button and the communication hooks are thus in place.

YORGOO Press has added and implemented this week-end its new Social Media Marketing Module. The occasion was the Ycademy Online Seminar which allowed to test the resulting automated communication streams. The results are smashing.

You post an article to your YORGOO Press. the post triggers a Twitter entry to your wall and all the friends walls you post to. It then triggers an entry into facebook, becoming available to facebook prospects and friends as well. The concerned entry is a 140 letter Twitter format entry with a link back to your original article on your YORGOO Press.

In social networks, people can find the entry and click on the link and visit your site straight away.

Or, they can comment on facebook or Twitter, which will trigger an feed back to your YORGOO Press or any other site of yours, which created there a new blog entry you can now comment or react to…which in its turn triggers again a Twitter entry and a facebook entry … and you have just created the perpetuum mobile. In my case I use for SN returns my U Q Me Site.

YORGOO Press is an attractive website with exciting features providing visitors with an interesting surfing experience. We have added a media viewer which allows to view images, videos and listen to music on a fast opening overlay based media viewer without reloading the page which allows to view images in original size without the usual limits imposed by web site layouts. YORGOO Press links directly to Social Networks such as facebook and Twitter and generates automatically the above described streamlined Communication Flow.

YORGOO Press provides users automatically with quality content articles from authority authors which are automatically imported and can then be edited for publishing purposes to match the publishers requirements, targets and objectives. The module drags content from a large article data base 9hundreds of thousands of articles to choose from) into YORGOO Press. the selection is made via a category selector. The import is based on a timer and allows up to 10 articles to be imported per day.

Automated Google Map integration with just one mouse-click is now possible in blog posts and static pages.

YORGOO Press has advanced to the finest publishing framework online, making ultimate technology accessible to ordinary people achieving extraordinary things.

Test articles posted during the seminar had immediate impact as well as on social networks as on search engines. Interesting progress we noticed namely on the sites from Larrie Perkin, Joe Cettina,  Alejandra Neri and Zo Nicholas.

We also noticed, that our South African friends were somewhat neglected by Google and the indexing of new content took longer than for Europeans or Americans. This concerns namely Bianca Gubalke, Hanno Coetzee and Eileen Cupido. In fact connection problems in South Africa prevented Eileen for hours to log on to the seminar.

More seriously: Genes YORGOO Press Publication makes it also on the difficult keyword “Gene Line” with some 60 Million search returns; as I am writing, the new site sits on rank 20!

I have not been mentioning all the other Semiomantics sites which are involved into the high performance. If you folllow the links under the above screen shots and surf Google from there, you are likely to find more of our sites, why not yours?

Interesting to observe is the fact, that our Semiomantics scripts can perform on most any keyword from one single website (such as YORGOO Publishing and Yorgo Nestoridis, Alejandra Neri or Besma Bashier) and there are many more.

As usual Gene’s keywords are not that easy, but we will conquer them, one by one to find ourselves heavily exposed on any Cars related topic in the end.

Lalakoi Post

The Lalakoi post or GardenRoutre Newsletter is Hanno Coetzee’s South African and Garden Route focused new Online Publication. The site is already rich in content and Garden Route Newsletter has already attracted numerous advertisers. The site under the brand ‘Tha Lalakoi Post’ is part of the Garden Route Group of sites and I am glad that there is already a great base for future business with South Africa we have in the pipeline.

Name Branding has been picked up by Google and The Lalakoi Post brand has been indexed: it’s a new brand and it will take time to develop, however it’s a start and a good start.

The Brand Cars Daily Chronicle has been picked up by Google rapidly however the credit is not yet linked to Gene’s YORGOO Press site. As we are in the millions of search returns and stiff competition, it will just take a bit longer, but we will get there!

Gene Line is a big keyword with over 62,000,000 search returns; Cars Daily Chronicle returns over 10 million and Daily Chronicle over 15,000,000. It’s all in line with Gene!

Building an online Publication is also building a new Brand, the Brand being the name of the Online News Paper. Using words such as Daily or Chronicle means that we have to compete with established brands, not to speak about the keyword Cars. Mixing it all together to Cars Daily Chronicle does not make life any easier. On the other hand, a new name is always a problem of Semantics when it comes to our expectations about successful Search Engine Marketing. Google may not give the same connotation to our words or to their combination.

Cars Daily Chronicle is an expression which is rather clear and we know what we can expect: it’s about Cars, it’s a publication and it is updated daily with new content.

After my little article from yesterday, I was wondering if we were picked up on the keywords so dear to Gene. Here is the result:

I was then wondering if we had been too specific and thought of checking the key-phrase: “Daily Chronicle”. I did not really expect any visible result but it was worthwhile surfing a few pages on Google to find that we end up on rank 36 on Daily Chronicle.

The same observation I made yesterday on Business Market Watch London applies here as well: the Domain carsdailychronicle.com would probably do additional wonders. (Checking it just now, I notice that the domain has been registered on yorGOdom, hopefully by Gene.)

The performance is mainly due to 3 articles by Bianca Gubalke and by myself promoting Felisa Ryan’s new online Publication. The sites showing up on Google are yorgoopublishing.com, businessmarketwatchlondon.com (which we registered yesterday), yorgonestoridis.com, besmabashier.com (a dublicator script), biancagubalke.wegobiz.com ( a YORGOO Blaster!), marketwatch.com, the only third party site left on the top 10, yorgooblaster.com/marketing (again a YORGOO Blaster!), news.yorgonestoridis.com (a YORGOO Press Script), and on rank 10 ycademy.com also powered by a YORGOO Press Script.

Create Ads from your Photos

Sometimes, when you take a picture just for the fun, you may capture an element which can become important in your graphic work. The below example shows the development of a very mediocre picture to a very nice ad.

Passing through some Black and White filters and adding a touch of sepia in Lightroom, you get this:

A touch of blue to allow for a somewhat grungy feel and then the decision about which part of the image you want to use. Asking YorgoMan, he opts for this direction:

For the sake of the ad I plan to design, I opt for this, the difference being the focus of the gradient and color overlay in Photoshop:

The flash intro is designed to anticipate your home or product page for example. In the case of a blog, you may replace your home page with the flash intro.

Visitors reaching your blog via a search engine will still reach first the post they have been looking for. If however they click then on the home link, they get the intro first. and end up after that at the blog archive.
