Adobe Flash Workshops and Seminar by Ycademy

A new important Ycademy development cycle will start next week: Adobe Flash will be the focus for the next 3 weeks and beyond as the case may be.

The Ycademy May Seminar, which will take place on May 29 and 30, 2010 will concentrate on practical flash application and template modification accessible to people who have followed the flash cycle as well as for participants who have no clue about flash coding: we will work along two parallel workflows, one focused on flash editing, the second on xml editing.

Photo Yorgo Nestoridis

Here is our ambitious educational plan:

Week 1: Introduction and Graphics Creation and Animation

Week 2: Action Script 3.0, Flash Audio and Flash Video

Week 3: Interactive Flash, Project Editing and Publishing

The Great Ycademy Flash Seminar

The Program of the Seminar will be released shortly, however we already know that the Seminar will focus on productivity and using Flash to increase our service level for the benefit of our customers. Namely we will develop and implement flash based products and add them to our product range.

Pre-requisites

This cycle is for participants who have Flash CS4 or CS5 installed or who will install it shortly. The Trial Version available at Adobe will do for the time of the cycle. Please contact Bianca for more information and the best way of equipping your computer with the software.

It is recommended to follow all daily calls as from Monday, May 10, 2010 to acquire the basics; the calls will be recorded. Recordings are available for free to Ycademy Pros, and they are included in the Seminar ticket available shortly.

The Ycademy Flash Cycle is accessible to beginners and there is no need to have any special knowledge. Basic Photoshop knowledge is an asset but not necessary.

Note

The Ycademy Flash Cycle is the most Cost and Time effective way to take our online Web Design and Site Development business to the next level. Join Ycademy Pro and take advantage of permanent updates and cutting edge of technology made available to interested ordinary people wanting to do extraordinary things.

For the time being, Monkey Valley Resort has allocated a person to get acquainted with the new website and to start the blogging process once ready for it. To this end and to be the most efficient also considering time issues as we all have full working days, I am creating a series of Website Tutorials to introduce and explain this high-traffic website itself, its features and functionalities to someone completely new to this area.

The short website tutorials of about 10 – 15 minutes each will be posted on YouTube, public for general viewing, but private at a later stage when going into some intricacies of the WP based Semiomantics XO Script. This procedure will also help me to better understand where the main problem areas with people who are new to the online world of blogging lie – and to find helpful remedies in my explanations and assistance.

To be continued…

Daily Online Training Calls

I really can’t believe how quickly this year, 2009, has flown by. We have just had our last Daily Online Training Call, and what a super call it was.

If I look back to January 2009 and go through the topics, seminars and skills learnt in the proeeding months I realise how much has been achieved through out the year and yet there lies still so much more ahead for all the participating members. The online environment is forever changing, adapting, evolving. What was good yesterday is old hat and unstylish today. In a competetive marketplace every marketer knows that he needs to keep up with the latest trends.

Daily Online Training Calls 2010

Planning well ahead, the New Year Daily Online Training Calls will start on 11th January, as usual in yorgotalk.com @ 8p.m. London time. Already a superb schedule for the months ahead is on the drawing board. Here is just a hint of what lies ahead: shopping cart development, more photoshop workshops, small business development and so much, much more. We have a full 12months ahead of trainings, seminars and workshops. It’s amazing what you can learn online from the comfort of your own armchair.

For those who missed the finale, click below for the recording of the training call:

Here’s a first Christmas Card 2011 for YOU – I just loaded the tiny video clip on YouTube! Christmas Card 2011 The above Christmas Card 2011 was created using Adobe After Effects in preparation of this year’s final Ycademy Seminar 2011, taking place in the form of an online Workshop this coming Saturday. We will focus on creating Christmas Greetings using Adobe After Effects. This spiffy program is at the base of so many beautiful animations we see on TV or any film related stuff. Time to learn how it all functions and then to get good at it! Watch this space! PS: I can only create a small version as I am in desperate need of more RAM and not only that as my dear old machine is concerned… This will happen in the near future!
Learning Vocabulary

Things change so fast, not only here online in cyber world but also in the real world. We have to keep pace by continually learning, as mentioned in my previous post, by absorbing new ideas, vocabulary and concepts in order to be able to communicate with others.

Vocabulary

This weekend I learnt something new, even at my age!

We all are exposed to and absorb a basic vocabulary in our pre-school years. From then on as we socialise we build upon that foundation and add more words that we absorb and learn without even thinking about it. Further education and learning increases our vocabulary even more as we often learn technical terms that are required by our careers or jobs.

“ An average educated person knows about 20,000 words and uses about 2,000 words in a week” Johnny Ling – 2001

Language itself evolves as its used from day to day, and if we look back to say the Elizabethan times, (about the time of Shakespeare), the average vocabulary of an adult was around 500 words although Shakespeare himself had a vocabulary of around 21,000 words. He was a well educated man.

Having grown up children is a real eye opener sometimes. This weekend I felt a if I had dropped in of the moon! When youngsters get together they speak their own language. This language was something I could not understand with ease, as they were using words and phrases I had never heard before. Colloquial english… the language of everyday with its own vocabulary, phrases, nuances interspersed with slang. Certain words having taken on new meanings as the language evolves. Today ‘gay’ does not have the same meaning it had 50+years ago. Unless you are versed in this very informal everyday speech it all can almost sound foreign.

I have a few friends who always rib me that I use ‘colonial english’ but then that was the vocabulary, language and pronunciation I was taught and brought up with. Not exactly ‘colonial english’ as I’m not a dinosaur yet, but certainly grammatically correct. Even in the short span of my life time language has evolved immensely, and just as I don’t understand Chaucer’s 14th century language, nor will future generations understand today’s spoken words so well.

Children Learning Language

Listening to the spoken word

Children start learning language from a very early age by listening to adults around, primarily their parents and siblings. They mimic what they hear, not necessarily understanding the meaning of the words they use. They also learn by the tone of voice which words create displeasure and which approval. Today they are also influenced by television, videos, radios etc which they often hear in their environment. Even at a very young age they are listening intently, absorbing like a sponge, learning. My grandson is less than 6months old but already he recognises and responds to his name, and tries to communicate with you with noises in his own fashion.

Children learn language fast as they are not inhibited like adults, they are happy to give it a go and if they make mistakes they are easily corrected. Eager to learn, eager to communicate. Encouragement goes a long to helping their linguistic development.

Children have to be educated, but they have also to be left to educate themselves. ~Abbé Dimnet, Art of Thinking, 1928

Learning

Many people find learning, the formal style of learning, a real chore, it’s just not for them; others regard learning as a most pleasurable activity and get a real buzz from getting to grips with a new subject and skills.

What is Learning

Learning as defined by Wikipedia is ‘acquiring new knowledge, behaviors, skills, values, preferences or understanding, and may involve synthesizing different types of information.’

We are all learn something new everyday, even if we are not conscious of the fact. Just coping with everyday life, the changing world around us, every experience increases our learning curve.

Learning through play

However small an action, there is always a thought process behind it. Of course most of the time we are not aware of it as per se only when we come across something a little different from the norm then we are probably aware we are thinking, thinking it through, synthesizing information, coming to some conclusion, a new value, preference or understanding perhaps. It’s all a learning experience.

Formal Learning

With formal learning we actually make a conscious decision to acquire new knowledge or skill. Depending on the topic it may take years, weeks or months to accomplish. Formal learning can be undertaken in many different ways by going to school, college, university, studying at home and also nowadays learning online.

Learning Online

With the internet being more widely available, it is possible to learn many subjects online by attending courses, seminars and utilising various e-course material. E-learning is both for children and adults. Nowadays learning needn’t be boring. Online technology offers educators so many various media to stimulate the learning process, using both visual and audio stimuli as not everyone learns in the same way.

Informal Learning

Everyday we experience informal learning, learning from our day to day situations that we are involved in. When it comes to young children they mainly learn through play and observation, totally unaware they are learning, understanding the world around them and acquiring new skills.

What’s where on Semiomantics XO

When designing a new website or blog, the question is “What’s where on Semiomantics XO” – if that’s the WordPress based super Search Engine efficient script you are working with. Especially if you are not yet too familiar with Coding… and your eyes get dizzy from html and css and php and div’s here and classes there… then it’s good to have a visual image of where some of the main parts you are working with are and how they are addresed in terms of calls or commands.

What’s where on Semiomantics XO

When you look at my Frontpage here by clicking on HOME then it’s quite easy to see that what’s where on Semiomantics XO is clearly between the header and the footer – that’s all!

Well, let’s look at the sketch I did above and we see the dark-violet background on which the website basically sits. The background – or background image can be easily inserted in Semiomantics XO 2011.

The red frame indicates the body – basically the whole space covered by the website or blog. I also added the div tags one needs to get familiar with rather quick.

All websites consist basically for three parts:

A header

A footer

The Main Content inbetween.

So while each part can contain a multitude of features and functions, let’s stick to our simple model above:

The footer at the bottom is rather easy. Normally it contains the Copyright Notice, however, there is also space for advertising and additional information.

The header at the top is easy too – if one remembers that here the header contains also the big slider we are using at the top instead of say a logo or a header image, as well as the main navigation bar. The header could be very minute as well, containing just a small company logo and the menu (navigation bar) – but in our example the header is rather generous and forms an attractive and dynamic announcement and advertising part of the website.

Please note that the BLOG is reached via the menu – and has a different display – very spiffy stuff possible on Semiomantics XO since WordPress 3… but one needs to get one’s head around it!

Part of the content in our example is a very attractive Image Bar – and, actually within the extended Footer area – the bottombar that allows for advertising space or the insertion of widgets.

Learn Coding Skills

All this presses us to learn Coding Skills as today we predominantly encounter a mix of html and php. Having a visual idea of what’s where on our Semiomantics Scripts helps us to know what needs to be eliminated if we want to work in a reduced way, as I did on my Homepage if compared with the Blogpage. Semiomantics XO offers a wealth of different possibilities that need to be exploited either for own usage or for our customers; they can look forward to highly customized and optimized Websites and Blogs. This is the ideal combination as our results on Google Top 10 proove all the time. . .

And so the journey continues . . .
