Twice Daily horse rides in the Knysna forest

At reception you will be welcomed by the Glinister family. This forest getaway is a must for nature lovers. Twenty well-trained and cared for horses welcome you from the green pastures. Twice daily visitors go on an unforgettable forest horse ride, accompanied by experienced guides. From beginners to experienced riders can enjoy the lovely Knysna forest, indigenous trees, giant strelitzia, ferns growing wild, fynbos, small streams, mountain views from another angle, on horseback. Adventure freaks can ride to the Indian Teepee camp in the forest, relax around the campfire, listen to tall stories told by the guide while preparing a mouth watering barbeque. After a peaceful sleep in a Teepee and after a real cowboy breakfast, return to the farm and experience the 2 or 4 hour Forest Hiking Trail leaving from the farm.

Team building for old and young

Bring your office staff for a teambuilding or workshop weekend. Students and school groups will love to “chill out” at this Oasis in the forest. Offer your child a party with a difference or your daughter a real rustic “farm wedding”

Accommodation in tree house, camping, self catering cottage or in backpackers dorm

Retire on the highest point on the farm. The fantastic tree house which is 8 m high in the treetops where the only alarm waking you will be the song of birds in the early morning. Camp out or stay in a dorm, double en-suite, self catering cottage or the original Sod farm house. We can accommodate groups up to 80 people apart from camping.

Relax at the pool, play a game of table tennis or have a game of pool or just relax at one of the fire places

After sunset relax at one of the 3 fireplaces with a hot or cold drink. Join the family at the dinner table and enjoy a home cooked meal or make your own B.B.Q. End the evening at the pool table or compete in a tennis table game. After all the excitement your body will definitely need a deep tissue massage also offered on the farm. Don’t forget to jump into the swimming pool!

Tsitsikamma Canopy Tours is a unique Eco Wilderness Adventure

The Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour© is a unique Eco-wilderness adventure that takes place in the magnificent Tsitsikamma indigenous rainforest. The first of its kind in Africa, the canopy tour involves traversing from one platform to another along a steel cable suspended up to 30 meters above the forest floor. Most platforms are located in giant Outeniqua Yellowwood trees. The scenery and bird life is spectacular and professional guides provide interesting facts about the forest ecology during the 2½ to 3 hours

“Your new Facebook Friend: A Rare Ugandan Gorilla” writes Stan Schroeder about two years ago, kicking off with what I think was a brilliant idea that goes far beyond a mere Social Media Marketing ploy as – what it really does – is raising awareness – and this is what counts for so many endangered species today. And obviously not only for those… as we have recently seen in Egypt.

Watch the highly interesting snippet 3 I captured at the eTourism Africa Summit 2011 two weeks ago that explains the origin of Social Gorillas on Facebook and why they are such a success in terms of Visual Marketing Online.

Social Gorillas in your Lounge so to speak :)

Social Gorillas on Facebook

“Social Gorillas on Facebook” clearly gets gorillas out of the mist into the virtual limelight and peoples’ hearts as they can watch tons of live footage that give an almost real-time experience within the Bwini Impenetrable Forest of Uganda where around 800 mountain gorillas enjoy their freedom – and this right from their comfortable couches. Meanwhile, the dignified stars of the show observe daily soaps of “Mankind” - from a distance and definitely without beer and potatoes.

Visual Marketing Online

Visual Marketing Online is the current trend and literally drawing everyone in its ban, namely the marketing and advertising industry of course. Doesn’t everyone want some minutes of glory… glued into eternity?

The fact is that today’s digital cameras and mobile phones, especially iphone 4, enable almost everyone to shoot digital photos or video clips of acceptable quality and shoot them directly onto the web, be it YouTube or Facebook just to name those two. Whereby the quality isn’t even a criteria when it comes to capturing unique moments and events as we have seen in the case of the amazing tourist movie “Battle at Kruger”.

Accordingly, one of the clear messages at the eTourism Africa Summit 2011 in Cape Town, South Africa, was to never go out without our digital weaponry and always be ready to shoot. So the Wild West style ‘hands-up or I shoot’ motto changes into a sociable “Smile NOW as I Shoot!” scenario that may be funny – or perhaps not.

And if you don’t want to be shot? Do you have to wear a disclaimer-button “Don’t Shoot Me!” or a “no-shoot-chip” engraved into your skin or DNA in the future ?

Jokes (?) aside, here we can imagine how the virtual world is flooding our so-called reality, opening new business opportunities for virtual security or digital immunity LOL.

Attention: new niche lurking … the Invisibility Pill: ‘switch me off, Boetie’ and POOF! … ex and gone!

We know there’s no more privacy on the Internet… the question is: will we be able to escape … and if so, where?

You just never know what you get when the mist rises. . .

Slide from tree to tree through the Tsitsikamma forest

Hold your breath as you slide from tree to tree through the Tsitsikamma forest, stopping at each new platform while your guides tell you a little more about the surrounding ecology. If you are fortunate you will spot a pair of Knysna Loeries or the brilliant red plumage of the elusive Narina Trogon. Whatever happens, were quite sure youll want to do it all over again!
