Glass Factory in George

At the House of Ngamathuba Glass Factory in George attractive wine glasses and tumblers are made from recycled bottles they find in the George/Wilderness area in the Southern Cape. The bottles that are used are made to industrial standards and the glasses that emerge tend to be more durable than usual and ideal for repeated use. The current range consists of more than 36 designs. These can all be adapted to client’s requirements. Each bottle is cleaned, sterilized and the paper labels are removed. A diamond cutter is used to chop the bottle to produce, usually, a beer tumbler from the lower section and a flute for a wine glass from the top.

Glass recycling in the Garden Route

The wine glasses are completed by attaching an artistic base using UV-adhesive. In some cases the stems of the glasses are decorated with a pewter band or beadwork. The glasses and tumblers are ideal for use in restaurants, bars and accommodation establishments like guest houses and lodges. Another way for job creation and recycling.
