We grow through our struggles… but inbetween I just imagine myself being that happy, fat and buzzing bumble bee in my garden floating from flower to flower and living in complete bliss!

To get Web Design with Passion back on a new PC meant and still means installing each and every program from scratch. Not that this isn’t an interesting and instructive exercise nor is it the first time I do this – but it’s time-consuming and often frustrating especially when there is such a huge list to do!

However, starting out from scratch has its merits that can be compared to the annual spring clean-out: unless you are an obsessive gatherer and collector, it’s a good time to get rid of everything that’s superfluous and not absolutely necessary and becoming lean and light with lots of potential to move forward with a new and speedy lightness of being and let the creative juices flow. I’m not quite there yet as too puzzled by some mysteries noone else knew an answer to so far – but here’s my first post ‘after the storm’ and it can only get better and faster!

On another level, 1 May 2012 Results on Google are my main objective with this little article – namely where did yesterday’s post end up?

Hotels and Lodges Websites show an incredible amount of search returns on Google: 3,250,000,000 ! Sounds like counting the stars… and yet, as I checked the position of my featured images, I found two of them on page one as you can see on the screenshot! SEO results that talk!

It’s only a year ago that I attended the significant Art Exhibition “The Human Abused” by Guenther Uecker in the District Six Museum in Cape Town, South Africa.

It was a wonderful and very emotional “Wiedersehen” with a valued friend after many years … and little did I know that my snapshot impressions would evolve into a website and a little movie – that I finally managed to load to YouTube – to celebrate his birthday on 13 March.

The website I designed for Guenther Uecker’s art installation in Cape Town HERE – by the way on the first Semiomantics Ecolution Script in Flash – is just another proof of how fast technology evolves when it comes to the Internet: Flash was the absolute way to go in those days…

Today, with the explosion of the mobile trend and the power fights between the ‘big boyz’ at the helm we have to distance ourselves from flash and work with html5 and CSS3 where our work displays astonishingly well on iphones, ipads and other mobile phones.

As such, I will integrate my documentation on “The Human Abused” in the development of my Showcase featuring my latest work as an example how we can use Web Design to document Art Exhibitions.

In my example here, I wrapped up a collection of beautiful digital pictures I took this year – my most precious moments on Noordhoek Beach South Africa 2010. I added some “unaccomplished music” that fits this spectacular high tide scenario perfectly – if you know which one I mean -  and dedicated it to “My Valentine” in the Title.

Quality is obviously always the most important criterium. Firstly of the photo or background image and of course the typography. There are free fonts and those we pay heavily for – and the difference becomes especially obvious once we leave the virtual world and go into the Printing process! I was quite pleasantly surprised how well the two free fonts came out here.

In the detail above I took a screenshot of the original Valentine’s DVD Packaging Image I created and rendered at just medium quality (40) to keep the loading speed down. It’s all part of the ongoing learning process; experience – sometimes pretty painful – and attentive observation are my best teachers… and of course I have an absolute admiration for the real “Masters” !

Blog for Money… isn’t that the Dream of so many hitting the Internet each and every day…  looking for ways of making money online the fast and easy way?

Happiness is… Wedding Website

The Wedding Website on my new Semiomantics Evolution has made good progress over the weekend, yet there is a whole week of intensive work ahead to cover all the beautiful photos taken by three photographers at different places. Currently, I am focusing on the chapter “Port Alfred” – here’s a screenshot of “Happiness is…” – some stunning color and black & white photos by Andrew Elliott Photography featuring the lovers on their honeymoon in South Africa.

The “Happiness is… Wedding Website” could certainly have advanced more with a connectivity boost – meaning faster lines that don’t time out all the time as happened just now again when I wanted to upload a 600px wide and about 100 kb light screenshot – it just kept spinning… So finally I lost the text and had to write it all over again. And less crashes of the latest Mozilla Firefox update would help too – for sure a new update to take care of the errors on the old update will come… a never ending story…

On a more positive note: may the happiness of the newlyweds continue… and the wedding website make good progress over the next days, slow lines or not – yebo!

Wedding Website in Progress

After completing the main work on the Wedding Ceremony Movie… just leaving it for a while to look back with fresh eyes, apply perhaps some refining touches, rendering the project (…. oh, that will be a job on my machine!) and finally uploading it to YouTube, I’m dedicating this weekend to my brand-new WP based Semiomantics EVO and the Wedding Website is in Progress!

Time to check the performance of my WP based Semiomantics website – so let’s see whether I find yesterday’s brief article on Innovation Streeton Google Top 10?

Yes – we do! Spot 10 on an incredible 226,000,000 search returns!

When checking before turning the lights off, I noticed it on spot 12… this morning it was on Google Top 10 – the place it deserves and captures, sooner or later and – guaranteed! On some very competitive keywords it can be a little longer, meaning it needs a few ‘shots’, however, eventually we get there! As I said to the CEO of Innovation Street today: the Formula 1 race today takes place on the Internet and the desired target is Google Top 10. Noone looks further, especially not on an iphone!

We reached our target very fast with 3/10 positions on Google Top 10 – in this case with yesterday’s article, which was carried up by sites of our Semiomantics Publishing Network.

Attractive Semiomantics EVO 2012

My article on the new and highly attractive Semiomantics EVO 2012 yesterday was written on “image” format, meaning it displayed the image larger than normal. This had a for me unexpected effect on the Blog page that normally shows only thumbnails and excerpts. This post is a test to see whether an article – back to normal settings – triggers the same or a different result, given the fact that we had a smart hack yesterday night at 9:11 pm.

Good Morning from Noordhoek

You may recognize my images from the series of photographs taken daily – every single day – over a one month’s period and prepared as a joyful daily greeting to special friends and family with the title “Good Morning from Noordhoek”. While this looked simple and was in general very much appreciated and even collected (!) as a loving gesture to brighten one’s day, there was quite some work that went into firstly finding the daily shot – come rain or high water – then choose the picture that really reflected that morning, and then prepare it in Photoshop before sending it out and posting it on my website.

The above gallery offers me the possibility to feature all 30 or 31 Noordhoek Greetings… which I will do – time-permitting!

The new Semiomantics EVO 2012

The new Semiomantics EVO 2012 was the sparkly topic of this month’s Ycademy Seminar 2012… and as always, the complex theme could not be covered over the expanse of a weekend, it’s as usual a work-in-progress situation, a process with continued learning, implementing and – most importantly – experimenting and observing… until finding one’s personal preferences, direction and style.

For those like me who love the ‘old’ flash version of Evolution, the new Semiomantics EVO 2012 offers some of the features we were so fond of – yet, it’s something totally different and independent as well. Instead of the fluid flow from left to right that gave the impression of a generous and easily directable movement, we now seem to build into depth, layer by layer. We’ve got to think “mobile”.

Due to the sad fact that our beautiful EVO sites do not show on the mobile web as Apple is not displaying Flash, this new Semiomantics EVO Developer Theme overcomes the problem with pure genius by making use of HTML5, CSS3 and Java instead of Action driven Flash.

Besides, the new Semiomantics EVO 2012 is now pow­ered by WordPress and while it features amazing possiblities for digital photography, video, graphics and all kinds of media design, it also includes a dynamic blog – which means it’s Google efficient!

Actually, it’s astonishing how many choices we have – and for those who have something to sell: the script is ready for eCommerce! We see the smooth integration of an elegant, user-friendly and – as it seems – easy to manage shop.
