Is there a way for affordable DVD Packaging?

Well, there is the long way to elaborate all this in hundreds of little steps on Photoshop – that’s what I’ve learned and practised over quite a while based on studying the early Adobe Photoshop Bible 5 – and then there is today’s fast and spiffy way by using Actions or Action Scripts, where basically the whole process is extremely compressed into automatic processes with occasional ’stops’ to insert personalized data like a title, a name, a copyright… that deliver astonishing end products.

These Action Scripts allow even people who are no artists and who don’t intend to go that route… but who have equipped themselves properly with Photoshop and who wish to present their photos and images on Blogs and Websites in a professional and appealing way… to produce great results for say CD wrappers, attractive DVD Jewel cases and many other forms of packaging.

Of course, this is only possible because some professional Graphic Designer has gone the whole route of many little steps to create an Action Script – that basically recorded all these complex steps and wrapped it all up in a PRO Action product at a price or gives it away for ‘free’. Suddenly, anyone can get an eye-catching result at one or two mouse clicks. What’s important here is to find the real good actions between the many thousands out there on the Internet… but for this we have:

Valentine’s Day Gifts

In my example here, I wrapped up a collection of beautiful digital pictures I took this year – my most precious moments on Noordhoek Beach South Africa 2010. I added some “unaccomplished music” that fits this spectacular high tide scenario perfectly – if you know which one I mean -  and dedicated it to “My Valentine” in the Title.

Quality is obviously always the most important criterium. Firstly of the photo or background image and of course the typography. There are free fonts and those we pay heavily for – and the difference becomes especially obvious once we leave the virtual world and go into the Printing process! I was quite pleasantly surprised how well the two free fonts came out here.

In the detail above I took a screenshot of the original Valentine’s DVD Packaging Image I created and rendered at just medium quality (40) to keep the loading speed down. It’s all part of the ongoing learning process; experience – sometimes pretty painful – and attentive observation are my best teachers… and of course I have an absolute admiration for the real “Masters” !

As their sales generated from their presence on the Internet continued to climb, they realized the need to even accelerate their rise to fame namely to:

Today, you find Global Sports on most relevant keywords – and they are continuously building their Brand.

At the time, I created a series of ads to provide some affordable advertising for the Internet. To test our new Action Scripts as discussed in this week’s Photoshop Ycademy Workshops, I decided to go a step further and point out another interesting way of advertising: Ezine Advertising.

2011 E-Tourism Africa Summit

Time for anyone involved in the African and South African Travel Industry to wake up to the urgent need of smart and search engine efficient Media Marketing on the Internet! It’s nothing that will occur at some time in the future – it’s here, it’s global and Bill Gates himself said it years ago: “Within a few years’ time you either have an online business – or you have no business.”

The time is NOW!

E-Tourism Africa has gone through challenging times over the past 12 months especially, and given the economic climate they aren’t over yet. Therefore, the 2011 E-Tourism Africa Summit will focus strongly on the future sustainability of Tourism in challenging and shifting markets. A number of well-known international speakers have confirmed their attendance and will discuss the latest innovations and technologies available to the Travel Industry bearing in mind rapidly changing global trends.

As a Web Designer and Internet Marketer, I am absolutely convinced that economic growth will largely depend on the way we Africans have access to, understand and embrace modern cutting-edge Technologies on the Internet and use the exciting online opportunities they offer. But…. yes, there is a but and it concerns PayPal and E-Tourism Africa!

PayPal and E-Tourism Africa

Whoever does online business knows that it stands and falls with fast, reliable, easily accessible and user-friendly payment gateways. In other words: online Banking. Everyone down here who has been around for a while, knows what this means and what I’m talking about. YEBO. . .

So… as we are dealing with the Tourism Industry – meaning international markets and in that sense global customers – the PayPal payment gateway is not only the largest and most widely used online banking system, but a safe and secure one. This means that it’s most peoples’ first choice when it comes to banking on the Internet. And this on a worldwide scale.

So what about PayPal and E-Tourism Africa?

While PayPal has been around since years for South Africans to pay their online bills, it’s only since the FIFA World Soccer event in 2010 that this crucial door was opened a little wider to South Africans – namely to receive money, i.e. to finally earn and with this join the modern world where this has been just ‘normal’ since ages.

While it was a crucial step to remove this major disadvantage that finally allowed Africans to also start building their Internet business, years of online revenue building were lost to the competition and, besides, the process is restricted to only one bank – First National Bank. Also, there are still a number of controls and restrictions we don’t find in PayPal accounts of developed countries, eg no PayPal Invoicing possible.

The 2011 E-Tourism Africa Summit in a way represents a large income avenue and therefore is the right place in my view to raise and address this issue and push for improvements and adaptation to international standards. In this respect the focus is not on the large corporate entities who have their main domains overseas anyway and are not affected; I am thinking of the vibrant African and South African small and medium businesses whose wings are clipped. It definitively hinders economic development. This needs to change quite urgently!

With purely online sales in Europe having increased by a staggering 20% between January and August 2011 – and a large contingent of these sales concerning the Travel and Tourism Industry, eg. flight tickets, hotel reservations etc., we can assume that many payments were made via PayPal – so having or not having PayPal in one’s country – to pay AND be paid in a fast and cost-efficient way – is not a question, it’s a ‘must. Definitively!

I am looking forward to seeing this important question addressed in a positive and future-oriented way.
