Garden Route Casino’s Comedy Week from the 4th to the 7th of July was crowned with an outstandingly funny performance by one of South Africa’s foremost comedians, Frank Opperman. The casino’s show bar, Bravo Lounge was packed to the rafters as comedy fans showed up in their droves to watch his show, “Rooikaart”.
According to the casino’s General Manager, Robin Seabrook, fans lapped-up Opperman’s hilarious story of Wally Koekemoer, the president of the “platteland” rugby club.
“Just as we anticipated, ‘Rooikaart’, which has earned rave reviews during Opperman’s nationwide tour, was a huge success with our audience. From start to finish, Opperman had the crowd enthralled with his antics. ‘Rooikaart’ is Afrikaans comedy at its best,” he says.

So successful was the Comedy Week that Seabrook says it will become an annual event at the Bravo Lounge during the first week of the July school holidays.
“The fantastic support our comedy festival received from local members of the community and holidaymakers shows that there is a big demand for comedy events like it. We are delighted that so many people came to watch the shows. We will definitely make this an annual affair,” he says.
